The Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa is for employees transferred from an international branch, affiliate, or subsidiary of a company to a South African counterpart. It allows the employee to work in South Africa for a maximum of four years and only for the specified employer.

Requirements to apply for a Intra-Company Transfer Work Visa
Intra-company transfer work visas are for when an overseas company wants to send an employee to a South African:
- Branch;
- Affiliate; or
- Subsidiary.
The assignment cannot be for longer than four years. The intra-company transfer work visa is only granted for a maximum of four years.
The visa’s main requirements are:
- You, the employee, must only be employed in the specific occupation and capacity for which the intra-company transfer work visa is granted.
- The South African company must demonstrate that an appropriate plan is in place to transfer skills from the visa holder to South African colleagues
- The overseas company must:
- Be able to show that your contract of employment with them is valid for at least six months.
- Confirm that the company will transfer you to a branch, subsidiary or an affiliate in South Africa.
- Demonstrate that your time in South Africa will not be longer than four years.
The application would need to include:
- A completed temporary visa application form.
- A valid passport must with an expiry date no sooner than 30 days after the expiry of your intended visit.
- Proof of financial means to cover living expenses until you receive a salary in the form of:
- bank statement;
- cash available, or travellers’ cheques.
- A medical and radiological report.
- A vaccination certificate, if required.
- A police clearance is required from every country where you lived for 12 months or longer since the age of 18 years.
IMPORTANT: Different consulates and embassies have different requirements regarding the application content for an Intra-company transfer work visa. An example of this is that some require a certified copy of the employee’s birth certificate. Care needs to be taken to ensure that all information and documentation (as required by the specific embassy) is included within the application.
